Quilt Along: Block 9

Welcome to Block 9 of our Quilt Along!! There are printable instructions and a video tutorial! Block 9 is a disappearing 9 patch block.

Instructions

- From 5 colors cut a square measuring 4 5/8″ x 4 5/8″. From 1 color cut 4 squares measuring 4 5/8″ x 4 5/8″

2. Place your blocks in the order they are to be finished. You will want your color with 4 squares placed in the top middle, right middle, bottom middle and left middle.
3. Starting with the top row, place your pieces right sides together and stitch with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press your seams to the left.
4. Continue with row 2, placing pieces right sides together and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Press seams to the right.
5. Continue with row 3, placing pieces right sides together and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Press seams to the left.
6. Place your top row right sides together with your middle row and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Place your middle row right sides together with your bottom row and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance.
7. Cut up the middle of your square.
8. Cut across the middle. So you will now have 4 separate squares.

9. Turn the top right square 180 degrees.

10. Turn the bottom left square 180 degrees.
11. Place your top squares right sides together and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Press to the left.
12. Place your bottom squares right sides together and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Press to the right.
13. Place your top and bottom row right sides together and stitch with 1/4″ seam allowance. Press the seam open.
