Frosted Glass Quilt

The Evening Frost collection is a beautiful combination of rich colors and subtle designs. We were inspired to create a quilt that looked like the reflection of stained glass on a frosted morning.

  • Fabric B – Frost Flakes – Dark Grey – 0.2m
  • Fabric C – Frost Flakes – Plum – 0.3m
  • Fabric D – Mosaic – Multi – 0.3m
  • Fabric E – Frost Tonal Scene – Plum – 0.5m
  • Fabric F – Mosaic – Teal – 0.5m
  • Fabric G – Frost Flakes – Blue – 0.5m
  • Fabric H – Birch Tree – Black/Grey – 0.5m
  • Fabric I – Frost Tonal Scene – Mid Grey – 0.5m

Cutting Instructions

Please note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvedge to selvedge unless otherwise noted.

From Fabric A cut:
(8) 5 1/2” x WOF strips – Sew the strips together end to end and sub cut:
(2) 5 1/2” x 65 1/2” strips
(2) 5 1/2” x 90 1/2” strips
(41) 1 1/2” x WOF strips
(94) 1 1/2” x 9 1/2” strips
-Sew remaining strips together end to end and sub cut:
(94) 1 1/2” x 90 1/2” strips

From Fabric B, M & N cut:
(1) 6″ x WOF strips

From Fabric C, D & L cut:
(2) 6″ x WOF strips

From Fabric E-K cut:
(3) 6″ x WOF strips

Diamond Block Assembly

Seam Allowance 1/4″

  1. Take (1) 6″ x WOF strip Fabric B and trim the end at a 45 degree angle.

2. Align the 45 degree angle with the bottom edge of the fabric. Measure out a 5 1/2” diamond and cut.

Repeat steps 1-2 until you have made:

  • Fabric B (1) diamond
  • Fabric C (3) diamonds
  • Fabric D (4) diamonds
  • Fabric E (5) diamonds
  • Fabric F (5) diamonds
  • Fabric G (5) diamonds
  • Fabric H (5) diamonds
  • Fabric I (5) diamonds
  • Fabric J (5) diamonds
  • Fabric K (5) diamonds
  • Fabric L (5) diamonds
  • Fabric M (2) diamonds
  • Fabric N (1) diamond

Change the orientation of the ruler and repeat steps 1-2 for the same quantities above so you have a reflection of the pieces.

3. Sash (1) 1 1/2” x 9 1/2” strip between each diamond. Referring to Rows 1-10 for fabric identification until you have made:

Quilt Top Layout

  • Use Quilt Layout for row location
  • Sew rows together and square up top and bottom edge
  • Attach borders – Borders may need to be trimmed to fit
  • Layer and quilt as desired
  • Bind as desired
