Nova Halo Quilt

The Nova Halo quilt mixes the traditional patchwork quilt with a collection that’s out of this world. A combination of traditional style and modern placement creates a beautiful square quilt, that’s the perfect lap size.

Please Note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvedge to selvedge unless otherwise noted.

From Fabric A cut:
(4) 5″ x WOF strips. Sub cut:
(6) 5″ x 21″ strips
(2) 5″ x 11″ strips
(1) 5″ x 5″ square
From Fabric B cut:
(3) 5″ x WOF strips. Sub cut:
(5) 5″ x 21″ strips
(2) 5″ x 11″ strips
From Fabric C cut:
(3) 5″ x WOF strips. Sub cut:
(4) 5″ x 21″ strips
(2) 5″ x 11″ strips
From Fabric D cut:
(5) 5″ x WOF strips. Sub cut:
(8) 5″ x 21″ strips
(1) 5″ x 11″ strips
From Fabric E cut:
(2) 5″ x WOF strips. Sub cut:
(2) 5″ x 21″ strips
(2) 5″ x 11″ strips
From Fabric F cut:

Blocks

1. Referring to Fig 1 for placement, sew (1) D,F,H,I,J & (2) G 5″ x 21″ right sides together.

2. Cut (4) vertical strips 5″ wide to make (4) Block Strip 1 (BS1)

Repeat steps 12, referring to Figures 1-7 for fabric identification until you have made:

Quilt Layout

  • Use Quilt Layout for block location.
  • Sew blocks and rows together to create quilt top.
  • Layer and quilt as desired
  • Bind as desired.
